A fun and exciting day for any family who has a child with a visual impairment. The day offers a range of activities for all ages, so parents, grandparents, brothers and sisters are all welcome!
Itinerary for the day
Welcome – Mardy Smith, Principal.
10:45am – 12:15pm
Tour of the College – Students and staff will take you on a tour of the campus and explain what life is like for a student at New College. Tours will take approximately 45 mins.
Art Workshop – A variety of fun and creative activities to try throughout the day. Suitable for all ages.
The Animal Man – A range of creatures including reptiles, birds and mammals. A rare opportunity to be in close contact with some fantastic creatures.
Independent Living Skills Workshop (Pre-booked workshop) – A practical hands-on session for both parents and children. Find out how we teach our students to do everyday tasks such as getting dressed, making hot drinks and simple snacks.
Climbing Wall – Suitable for children aged five and upwards, this climbing wall is a challenge, but fantastic fun. All children will be using a safety harness and supervised by qualified instructors.
Pony Rides – Enjoy a fully supervised pony ride around our grounds (suitable for children aged 2-12 yrs). For older children, a carriage ride is also available.
Bungee Run – The bungee run is an exhausting inflatable game for adults and older children. Put on the belt, pick up the baton and run as fast as you can, place the baton on the velcro before the bungee cords pull you back to the start.
Parents Chill Out – A free activity just for parents! Acupressure massages are performed whilst you are fully clothed, using a specially designed chair. Appointments can be booked with the masseur directly.
