Theatre in York that is extremely accomodating for blind and partially sighted visitors.
York Theatre Royal puts on many excellent performances and are always happy to assist blind and partially sighted visitors. It's situated conveniently as the bus stop is right outside so you can easily travel to and from it if you live in the surrounding area. If you're unfamiliar with York, taxis will drop you right outside and the drivers are more than happy to help. The theatre provides a free ticket to carers so if you are going with someone you only have to pay for one ticket. This is really helpful as sometimes you may need someone to come with you, especially if you don't know the area. The staff are very friendly and if you need help finding your seat they'll give you a hand.
The theatre also offers touch tours and audio description on some performances. You can either check the website or give them a ring to find out when this is available. Overall it's an excellent place and I've never had any problems when I'm there.
