Olympus DM 450
The Olympus DM 450 is a digital voice recorder which records audio such as meetings and lectures.
The Olympus DM 450 is a voice guided digital recorder that provides audio feedback when entering menus and sub-menus. Unfortunately the audio feedback is not a universal feature as there is no text-to-speech which means the DM 450 is not capable of reading the titles of the recordings. This can increase the time it takes to find files if you are blind and highly dependant on the audio feedback because you will have to play some recordings first to establish what they are. However because files are listed in date ascending order the most recent files will be at the top of the list which should save some time. The DM 450 also has other features which includes contrast adjustment and tactile buttons as well as podcast functionality, MP3 playback and a timer.
Despite no text-to-speech and a settings menu which can become complicated the DM 450 is a product that can make a difference. However, if additional accessibility features are required check out the Olympus DM5 as it has some voice commands, a daisy player. However it does come with a price tag around the £220 mark at least.
