National Glaucoma Awareness Week 7 to 13 June 2010
The annual National Glaucoma Awareness Week will take place from 7 to 13 June 2010. It is organised by International Glaucoma Association.
This year’s event will be highlighting who is at risk from glaucoma and how to reduce these risks.
Everybody is at risk of developing glaucoma but some people have an increased risk, such as people over 40, people with a family history of glaucoma, people who are short sighted, diabetic or who are of African-Caribbean origin.
Early detection can help prevent glaucoma developing. Everyone over the age of 40 should have an eye test every two years which includes all three glaucoma tests. It is important to have this test regardless of if you believe there is something wrong with your vision.
