On 1 December 2011, the Government announced a discussion with disabled people to gather suggestions for a new cross-government disability strategy. Action for Blind People, on behalf of the RNIB Group, is compiling a response to the consultation and would value your input.

Norfolk Council responds to the needs of residents with sight loss

RNIB and Action for Blind People are pleased that Norfolk County Council has reversed its changes to the concessionary bus travel scheme. The Council made this decision after listening to the views of local residents and voluntary sector organisations, and looking closely at the impact of the changes on the lives of blind people in Norfolk.

Boots Opticians launch ‘Great Big Eye Check’ supported by Action and RNIB

With four in 10 Brits (39%) not having their eyes checked on a regular basis, Boots Opticians today (Thursday, 12 January) launches the ‘Great Big Eye Check’. The initiative, to help raise awareness of eye health and encourage more people to have their eyes checked regularly, coincides with Boots Opticians changing the name of its comprehensive eye test to an ‘eye check’.

StyleAble fashion and design workshops

Tenants at Action for Blind People’s supported housing unit, Bradbury Oak, recently took part in a fashion and design workshop organised by StyleAble, an online fashion, beauty and lifestyle resource which provides information, news and advice for blind and partially sighted people.
