Technology, to help blind and partially sighted people gain or retain employment and lead more independent lives, will be exhibited at Action for Blind People's open day in Sunderland. The event is free giving residents of Sunderland and the surrounding areas the chance to experience different assistive technology.
What's on
- Practical demonstrations will take place with computers fitted with speech output or magnification, designed to give people with sight loss access to information and assist them in the workplace.
- CCTVs, scanners, mobile talking phones and other gadgets will be on display.
- Assistive technology providers will include Dolphin, Humanware, Optelec, Enhanced Vision, Pamtrad, ForecTen, Sight and Sound.
- Guide Dog's Newcastle Display team will be presenting at 12.30pm.
- Percey Hedley Foundation and North East Employer Coalition will be attending.
