The Big Society: personal and collective responsibility

Posted on 30 November 2010 in Sandi's Blog

I have been thinking a lot about social change, what with Government setting out its stall under the Big Society banner, and I am troubled.

The waiting game

So, here I am, still waiting . There has been movement but not very quickly.

A wicked time at Wicked

Posted on 25 November 2010 in Toby's Blog

Audio description is just not for TV and film it is also for the visual arts and theatre. At the beginning of my Action blogging you may have heard me talk about the day job. Maintaining the integrity of an open and inclusive Internet

Posted on 22 November 2010 in Sandi's Blog

The principles of openness and inclusivity, on which the Internet has been built, are so aligned with everything I want the world to be. They are at the heart of human values and the ideals that I spend my life working towards. The mere thought of the erosion of these principles is pure agony, but the Internet has not become what its founders envisaged and is now a fundamental part of a global community. This has not been affected by the recently announced benefit cuts. The change will take effect from 11 April 2011. It is the direct result of a concerted campaign by the RNIB supported by Action for Blind People, other charities and many individuals.

The wonderful gift of true friendship

Posted on 9 November 2010 in Sandi's Blog

True friendship is something I have only come to properly understand very recently. I am not an easy person to be friends with: I am opinionated and rarely keep my opinions to myself. I am demanding of both myself and those around me and when I feel passionately about something, those demands can be relentless.

Accessibility and inclusive design: absent in the mainstream?

Posted on 2 November 2010 in Sandi's Blog

At work, we received a brief recently from a potential new and very prestigious client. The scope of the work was really interesting and then 'it' happened.
