Random Acts of Kindness
A friend once told me that you don't see random acts of kindness anymore these days; that everyone is so focussed on their own lives and that we live in a selfish culture.
Always trust your guide dog!
I have only had my guide dog Isla for two months which will explain how I managed to get myself in this situation. I suppose you live and learn.
Why Sam Browne Freaks Me Out
For those not in the know a ‘Sam Browne’ is a fluorescent belt that blind people wear to notify others that we can’t see you and most likely won’t get out of your way.
One Man’s Vision exhibition, Gallery Oldham - Diary of a volunteer
When Henshaw’s asked if we had the time to volunteer to represent Henshaw’s at the OMV exhibition at Gallery Oldham, I was more than happy to help to do my bit to help raise awareness.
Back to work
I got the voluntary job I had applied for and discussed in my last blog and have been working there for a month now.
Audioboo - because sound is social
Today I wanted to talk about an app and a community I have recently joined; Audioboo.fm. It’s a free social media site where you can create your usual profile information, connect with friends, leave each other messages and update your status whenever you feel like. You can also follow other Audiobooer’s and various media/radio channels and all just by audio!
Council Tax Support
The Welfare Reform Bill heralds the biggest change in the history of welfare benefits.
A chance for people to experience life from a VI perspective
Starting 31st October-5th January at Gallery Oldham. Celebrating 175 years of Henshaw’s Society for the Blind.
This year I attended an Action for Blind People Activity Break located at Surrey's peaceful High Ashurst development centre.
We stayed in log cabins consisting of many beds and washrooms. The food was brilliant. The staff and volunteers were wonderful. The activities were remembered by all. Most importantly I've felt more confident since attending the break. I've taken on challenges, made good friends, spoke to old ones. I had a brilliant time!
