People who have sight loss may become isolated and feel excluded in today’s world. Assistive technology can empower people to:
- Use computers to email, shop on the internet, access services in fact all the things everyone else does on a computer.
- Read printed information, newspaper, books, mail and bills.
- Use mobile phones.
- Travel independently and make use of sat nav.
What we offer
Our technology coordinators have a wide range of skills and knowledge of the latest products and software. We deliver services in:
- Access to Work assessments to identify workplace solutions.
- Access software training tailored to one-to-one.
- Software training courses and workshops for groups.
- Technology advice and support to individuals or business.
- Technology demonstration drop in days.
- Speaking at events or showcasing equipment at shows.
- Provide loan equipment for interviews or placements.
- Advise on low cost and no cost technology solutions.
- Provide information on a wide range of computer technology, Windows, Mac and Linux.
Who we help
We can offer advice and practical support to blind and partially sighted people regardless of the degree of their sight loss and of all age groups and abilities. Whether you use technology at home, at work or at college one of our technology coordinators can help.
We also offer advice to employers who may be considering employing a blind and partially sighted person or who has a visually impaired employee and is looking for guidance.
