Want to be your own boss?
Have you ever wanted to try and turn an idea into a business but were not quite sure where to start?
How we can help
Action for Blind People has a long history of helping visually impaired people into business. An adviser will work with you to assess what is required to:
- Support your sight loss.
- Design a training package for your business idea.
- Or to look at other career options.
The support is free to anyone who is unemployed, working a few hours a week or in a situation where it is hard to find suitable work.
What support is on offer
The training looks at any aspect which you need to start your business. With sight loss in mind this would include:
- Making sure materials are accessible.
- Mobility and travel.
- Ensuring training is accessible.
- Researching your idea and its potential.
- Support to create a business plan.
- Meet other people in similar circumstances.
- Build confidence to apply the skills learnt.
What you need to do
Develop your idea as much as possible. Think about who your customers are and why would they be interested in your product or service. Think whether self-employment suits your personality and circumstances. Be ready to talk it through with an adviser.
