A fun and exciting day for any family who has a child with a visual impairment. They day offers a range of activities for all ages and parents, grandparents, brothers and sisters are all welcome!

Itinerary for the day

10:00am

Registration opens with refreshments.

10:30am

Welcome from Mardy Smith, Principal.

Welcome and brief introduction to the college.

10:45am – 12:00pm

Indoor activities

Tour of the college - Students and staff will take you on a tour of the campus and explain what life is like for a student at New College. Tours will take approximately 45 minutes – 1 hour.

Art workshop – A variety of fun and creative activities to try throughout the day. Suitable for all ages.

Bungee run – The bungee run is an exhausting inflatable game for adults and older children. Put on the belt, pick up the baton and run as fast as you can, place the baton on the velcro before the bungee cords pull you back to the start.

Independent Living Skills workshop – (Pre-booked workshop) A practical hands-on session for both parents and children. Find out how we teach our students to do everyday tasks such as getting dressed, making hot drinks and simple snacks.

Outdoor activities

Archery – Suitable for children aged 5 and upwards, this activity will really test your aim and accuracy.

Mini zoo – A rare opportunity to be in close contact with a wonderful range of animals including meerkats, tarantulas, snakes, owls plus many more!

Inflatable obstacle course – Negotiate the vertical inflatable biff 'n' bash tubes, squeeze through the inflatable squeeze bars and slide down the bouncy slide.

Pony rides – Enjoy a fully supervised pony ride around our grounds (suitable for children aged 2–12 years). For older children, a carriage ride is also available.

Continuing activities

Art workshop, archery, mini zoo, Independent Living Skills workshop, pony rides, bungee run, tour of the college and the inflatable obstacle course.
