Disability Living Allowance

As many of you may know we have been a very active supporter of the campaign to see the high rate of the mobility component of Disability Living Allowance extended to people with the 'most severe sight loss'.
Who can forget those marvellous scenes as 1200 blind and partially sighted people descended on Parliament during December of 2006? The campaign has continued to receive considerable support within parliament with more than 250 MP's signing a motion in support during the last parliamentary year.
Since then we have been engaged in extensive behind the scenes activity and I expect very soon to be able to bring you news of further developments in this area - watch this space.

This is a very good campaign well done Action and the other organisations. I have as many problems getting out and about as does a person in a wheelchair, in fact I think my experiences are even more severe as for example they can read a map, read street names Etc. However, I am not able to do this and not able to use a bus as I don't know where to get off and I have learnt from bitter experience that one should not rely on the driver to tell me.
