Attention during the night

This checklist applies if you are visually impaired and have other disabilities, and need 'attention' during the night. If your only disability is visual impairment, the benefits agency are unlikely to accept that you need help during the night. However, if for example you also suffer from incontinence, then you may need 'attention' at night (in order to help you change your sheets and bed clothing). This checklist applies to DLA (middle and higher rates) and Attendance Allowance (lower and higher rates).

Supervision at night

This checklist applies if you are visually impaired and have other disabilities, and need 'supervision' at night. Again, if your only disability is visual impairment, the benefits agency are unlikely to accept that you need help during the night. However, if for example you also suffer from epilepsy (and you get no warning of attacks), or prone to wandering at night, then you may need 'supervision' at night. This checklist applies to DLA (middle and higher rates) and Attendance Allowance (lower and higher rates).
