Employment and Support Allowance

Employment and Support Allowance has now replaced Incapacity Benefit on grounds of incapacity.

New claimants will have to undergo a 13 week assessment period which includes a Work Capability Assessment (replacing the current Personal Capacity Assessment).

Action for Blind People's Welfare Rights Manager, Marsha De Cordova, offers an insight into the ins and outs of this new benefit and what the change will mean for visually impaired people.
