Employment and Support Allowance

Employment and Support Allowance is set to replace Incapacity Benefit in October 2008 on grounds of incapacity.

From this date on, new claimants will have to undergo a 13 week assessment period which will include a Work Capability Assessment (set to replace the current Personal Capacity Assessment).

Action for Blind People's Welfare Rights Manager, Marsha De Cordova, offers an insight into the ins and outs of this new benefit and what the change will mean for visually impaired people.
