Home visiting service
Our Welfare Officers visit members to maintain contact, provide support, advise on allowances and benefits and help to fill in the appropriate forms.
Resource centre
A selection of aids, games, watches, clocks, timers, telephones, etc. is available at the Centre; we can order items not in stock.
Social centre activities
Our centre at 124 Longstone Road is open each weekday from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm for advice and assistance. Social activities at the centre, from 2.00pm to 4.00pm, are:
- Monday - handicrafts
- Tuesday - dominoes / cards
- Wednesday (winter) - indoor bowls
- Friday - bingo / dominoes / quizzes
- Home safety and improvement scheme
We can install smoke detectors, inspect electrical and gas appliances, door locks etc. and help with advice on decorating, plumbing or woodwork.
Shopping service
Every Thursday morning members are taken to and from a local supermarket by minibus (seats are limited).
Holidays
Holidays are arranged throughout the year. Information is available about holidays at RNIB and other hotels for the visually impaired.
Blind Bowling Club
Meetings or matches on: Wednesday & Saturday 2.30pm at Gildredge Park (summer); Wednesday 2.00pm at our Centre and Sunday 12.00 noon at Hampden Park (winter).
