Katie's story

Katie felt too frighted to play with her friends in the playground. Find out how our Actionnaires club boosted her confidence and gave her the chance to try judo, climbing and more! Actionnaires clubs transform the lives of many children living with sight loss.

Katie, one of our Actionnaires members in a cave

Katie is a bright, bubbly ten year old who wants nothing more than to run around with her friends and have fun. But Katie has a condition which means her eyes are constantly moving, making it impossible for her to focus. This left her feeling too frightened to play with her friends in the playground. She was afraid of being knocked down and getting hurt.

How our Actionnaires club helps Katie

Thanks to Actionnaires, Katie now leaps at the chance to take part in activities like judo, trampolining and climbing. In fact her confidence has grown so much that she’s even given a speech to her classmates, telling them all about her sight condition, and of course her Actionnaires club!

Actionnaires clubs are run by specially trained staff, offering a safe and secure environment for blind and partially sighted children to play in.

Katie's young life has been totally transformed. Sadly there are countless more blind and partially sighted children who are still unable to join in and enjoy the childhood they deserve.
