Derek

“There was one time in Halifax where I was in a mugging when I was out at night. I was using a long cane, and going past a bus station a guy tried to mug me. I connected with him twice [with the cane], they found the blood, but I was told by the police not to use force. So what am I supposed to do if someone attacks me? Lie back and let them walk all over me?

“I know someone else who’s been in a similar situation. It was a very similar situation where there was an attempted mugging and the person defended themselves with a white stick. They were in trouble with the police for doing that.”
