Every employee at Action for Blind People has an important role to play and is valued. We strive to be a model employer and regularly update our employment policy to be at the forefront of best practice.

We are committed to maintaining our Investors in People standard and have demonstrated commitment to good policies and practice in employing people with a disability as demonstrated by being given permission to use a 'Positive about Disability' symbol by the employment service in 1999.

Recent Awards

  • Action was voted one of the top three Charity Fundraising Teams to work for in the UK by Professional Fundraising Magazine and Think Consultancy.
  • Action was ranked 11th best Marketing Employer in the UK in a recent ‘Marketing’ magazine survey. We were the highest ranking not-for-profit organisation and the only charity to make the top 50 in the poll that included private consultancies, companies, PR agencies and Government agencies.
  • Action has been short-listed at the UK Charity Awards in two categories. Our most recent Sunflower Power Schools Challenge involved 509 schools which brought in a total income of £60,718 which means we are being considered for the Community award.
  • We were also nominated for ‘Best use of Technology’ award for our integration of accessible technology in Computing Magazine in 2006.
