Technology appeal in Bristol to help blind and partially sighted people

An appeal is to be launched by Action, with a target of raising £87,000 to re-equip its computer centre in Bedminster. The life-changing centre trains people with sight loss in how to use technology to communicate, gain and retain employment and live independently.

London children with sight loss get an equestrian experience

Over the weekend, eight blind and partially sighted young people from across South London got in the saddle for a horse riding and care lesson at Park Lane Stables. During the session, they enjoyed an hour long guided trail ride and learnt basic horse care techniques. Further Reading: Actionnaires

Action's Activity Break Ambassador

A visually impaired youngster is re-living her experiences on an adventure week, after becoming an ambassador for Action's Activity Breaks. Erin Boyce wants to encourage other youngsters with sight loss to share the teambuilding and confidence boosting experiences she went through; from rock climbing, to shelter building and swinging from a zip wire.

Technology showcase for blind people in Cumbria

A 98 year old service user is encouraging blind and partially sighted people in Cumbria to attend a 'gadgets’ showcase to learn about the latest technology, designed to help them communicate and live independently. Visually impaired people in North West benefit from tech showcases

35 blind and partially sighted people took part in two ‘gadget’ events in Manchester and Preston last week. The free showcases and workshops gave visitors the opportunity to learn about the latest accessible technology, designed to help people with sight loss communicate and live independently.
